Blackfoot Confederacy Hiring Blackfoot Patient Navigator
The Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join its growing Health Department as a Blackfoot Patient Navigator. This full-time, three-year contract position offers an opportunity to improve healthcare access for Blackfoot members while helping create a more equitable and culturally safe provincial healthcare system.
Based out of the Blackfoot Confederacy Calgary Branch Office, the successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment with regular on-Nation presence at Siksika Nation, Kainai-Blood Tribe, and Piikani Nation. Reporting to the Health Director, the Patient Navigator will support community members in accessing Alberta’s provincial healthcare services, including hospitals, primary care networks, and specialist care.
The Blackfoot Patient Navigator will play a vital role in guiding clients through the provincial healthcare system by advocating for their needs, coordinating care, supporting hospital transitions, and working alongside healthcare professionals to improve health outcomes. The position will also identify systemic barriers to care and help advance health equity for Blackfoot communities through advocacy and collaboration with Alberta’s healthcare system.
The ideal candidate will have education in a health-related field, experience in client advocacy, case management, or health administration, and a strong understanding of provincial healthcare systems. Knowledge of Blackfoot culture and the ability to build trusting relationships within communities are essential, while the ability to speak and understand the Blackfoot language is considered a valuable asset.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with community leaders, healthcare partners, and Blackfoot Nations while making a meaningful impact on healthcare access for members of Siksika Nation, Kainai-Blood Tribe, and Piikani Nation.
