
3rd Annual Siksikaitsitapi Pow Wow and Princess Pageant
Experience Blackfoot celebrations and centuries-old traditions at the 3rd Annual Siksikaitsitapi Pow Wow and Princess Pageant on August 21-22, 2024. In partnership with the Blackfoot Confederacy and Lethbridge & District Exhibition, this event will be held at the new Agri-Food Hub & Trade Centre, featuring dancers and drummers vying for cash prizes.
The Siksikaitsitapi princess pageant empowers First Nations girls and women to become community leaders and advocates, celebrating their culture and educating the broader community. Contestants will compete in Tiny Tots, Junior, and Senior categories, with the crowned Miss Siksikaitsitapi representing Lethbridge & District Exhibition and the Blackfoot Confederacy as an ambassador throughout the year.
The Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council invites competitive Pow Wow dancers to join in celebrating the Siksikaitsitapi culture. Participants can compete in categories including Tiny Tots, Junior, Teen, Adult Men, Adult Women, and Golden Age, across Buckskin, Chicken, Fancy, Grass, Jingle, Traditional, and Drumming styles. Admission is free until 3pm each day, and the event will feature a vendor Marketplace at the Agri-Food Hub & Trade Centre.
