Blackfoot Confederacy Invites Families to Participate in Placenta Ceremony

The Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council Health Department is seeking participants for an upcoming Blackfoot Placenta Ceremony, a cultural gathering designed to honour babies, families, and the sacred Blackfoot teachings surrounding birth and the beginning of life.

Scheduled for June 22, 2026, the ceremony will bring together Blackfoot families from across the Confederacy to reconnect with traditional teachings, ceremony, and Elder guidance. The gathering recognizes the cultural significance of birth and provides an opportunity for families to honour their children through practices rooted in Blackfoot knowledge and traditions.

Organizers are inviting Blackfoot mothers and families who have retained their baby’s placenta and are interested in participating in a culturally grounded ceremony. The event is intended to support the revitalization and continuation of traditional teachings while creating space for families to strengthen their connection to culture, community, and identity.

Location details will be provided directly to registered participants.
